Our Exposing the Invisible film series will be closing the Creative Commons film festival in Madrid on Feb 01. Director Marek Tuszynski will be there too!

At the beginning of December last year, Tactical Tech and APC brought 76 or so women and a small group of men together for seven days of training, collaboration, discussion, and knowledge exchange. Find out how it went!

Around ten of us will be at 31c3 this year in Hamburg, Germany - look out for a Tactical Tech booth, where we'll be offering things like Security in-a-box in hard copy, stickers, cards and good conversation! Maria and Claudio will also be launching our new project, Trackography.  Exciting.

Tactical Tech's Maria Xynou will be in London 5-7 Dec - catch her panel discussion with Duncan Campbell and James Bamford, where they will be talking about surveillance in India. Also look out for Tactical Tech's table at the marketplace, where you'll be able to pick up some of our materials.

We received some 350 inspiring applications for our Gender and Tech pop-up institute, coming up in early December in collaboration with APC. Thanks to everyone who applied - narrowing it down to just 55 applicants was no easy task. We're hoping, however, that similar events - perhaps with a regional focus - will follow.

A few of us will be at 'Open Up?' in London next week, hosted by the Omidyar Network. Stephanie Hankey will be on a panel and we'll also have an info booth.

If you're going to be in Bogota, Colombia for the Access Initiative's fifth Global Gathering from Oct 29-31, look out for Tactical Tech's Gabi Sobliye and Lisa Gutermuth.  This year's theme is "Using Information, Data and Technology to Protect Forests and Strengthen the Rights of Forest-Dependent Communities."
